After being shot by many arrows he was left for dead. His body was being taken for burial by a widow, but when she realized he was still alive, she took him to her home and nursed him back to health. One day he publicly confronted the emperor, Diocletian, and denounced the cruelties done to the Christians. He was again arrested and sentenced to death. After his execution he was buried in the, “ad catacumbas.” It is probably because of this tradition that Sebastian is considered the patron of archers and soldiers.”
