Patzcuaro Painter (attributed to) - La Mano Poderosa.
This 19th century painting represents “La Mano Poderosa,” or “The Powerful Hand” - also sometimes referred to as “Los Cinco Personas,” a reference to the Extended Holy Family in the upper quadrant. The five figures at the top represent Anne, Mary, Baby Jesus, Joseph and Joachim. In the lower quadrant, blood is flowing from the stigmata into an open gold chalice which is received by the seven sacrificial lambs.
Oracion a la Mano Poderosa
Casa de Jerusalén, donde Cristo entró y el mal al punto salió, entrando al instante el bien. Yo pido a Jesús: que el mal se vaya de n.n. y venga el bien y curación para él(ella) por esta santa oración y por Cristo nuestro Señor.
(Después de hacer la petición se debe decir:)
Aquí vengo con la fe de un alma cristiana, a buscar tu misericordia en situación tan angustiosa para mí. No me desampares, y la puerta que quiera abrirse en mi camino, sea tú mano poderosa la que me la cierre para no entrar en ella si no me conviene, o me la dejes abierta, si ha de volver mi tranquilidad tanto tiempo deseada. A tus pies dejo esta súplica, que te hace un alma obligada por el destino a grandes sufrimientos, que ya no puede combatir si tu mano poderosa no detiene la ley de la razón. Dios mío, perdona los desaciertos que yo he cometido durante esta existencia, la cual llevo de frente, dame fuerzas para soportar la amargura de esta vida.
