After a two hour long talk with my Pentecostal aunt, I reckon I have enough material to write a dissertation on the topic.

I am kind of split between the following:

Neoliberal and Messianic Narratives in Third World Pentecostal Movements;

Or

Transverse Epistemologies of Selected Catholic Marian Apparitions and Pentecostal Apocalyptic Literature

(Truthfully, the second one interests me more)

With the first one, I hope to examine a particular propensity of Pentecostal groups in the Philippines (and Latin America) to ‘valorize’ the involvement of a radically Christianized private sector in state craft, and hence bring about a complete turnaround in entrenched corruption— thus effecting economic salvation and prosperity. We are hinting, all throughout, at the profoundly millennarian anticipations of the movement, conceived primarily in economic-as-spiritual ascendancy.

In the second, it shall be my intention to compare and contrast traditional Catholic “apparition literature” with modern day spiritual locutions of Pentecostal preachers. Inter alia, the salient points of each generic type seem to be: the impartation of secret knowledge or gnosis about spiritual truths (e.g., the impending chastisement of God in Fatima viz the glories of heaven for Pentes); the description, ratification, and reiteration of spiritual truths, such as the terrors and torments of Hell; and an appeal to repentance from sin, and certain conditions upon which shall be contingent the chastisement of God.

If I have time, I guess it might even be fun to bring in the apocalyptic traditions from the intertesramental periods.

But I digress, I have a job after all. LOL
