The magnificent interior of the Church of Our Saviour on Spilled Blood, Saint Petersburg, Russia. The church received its name by being built on the spot where Emperor Aleksander II was assassinated in March 1881. Though perhaps known as the quintessential Russian church, its architect, Alfred Parland, was actually of English descent.
